Navigating & Healing the Pain
Denver Based Therapy for Chronic Pain, Autoimmune Disorders, Endometriosis, PCOS, Digestive Disorders, and Unexplained Physical Symptoms
Living with chronic pain, autoimmune challenges, and other unexplained physical symptoms can be overwhelming and frustrating, and often times you may just feel stuck.
You are in good company if even these words feel like a huge understatement!
At this point, you may nodding, but wondering how counseling can help?
This is a good & important question!
Turns out many of the following confusing and “unexplainable” conditions are often linked to trauma histories:
chronic fatigue
chronic pain disorders (such as fibromyalgia, chronic pelvic pain, and migraines)
autoimmune disorders (such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and multiple sclerosis)
irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and other functional gastrointestinal disorders
metabolic disorders (including obesity and type 2 diabetes)
endometriosis, PCOS, PMDD, vaginismus and other women’s health conditions
unexplained somatic symptoms
This is by no means an exhaustive list, however gives you a bit of an idea of what we are finding about how our experiences impact our brain and body.
If you are experiencing one of these conditions and have a nagging intuitive feeling that your experience may be tied to your history, then you are the right place.
And, if you find all this to be incredibly frustrating and unfair, you are still in the right place!
What you can expect:
Together we will gently explore, understand, and create compassionate awareness surrounding your experience, with all its nuances and complexities. (This is important because how we relate to our pain informs our experience of suffering.)
When these experiences are tied to a history of trauma, we will work together to help your brain and body release the burdens it has been carrying and facilitate healing. We do this through parts work, AEDP techniques, and EMDR.
In this process, we will work to create the conditions necessary for a life that feels whole, grounded, and empowered.
Who knows, you may also find that as you do this emotional work, the physical symptoms also subside. I’ve seen it happen enough to not rule it out.

"The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well."
